I would like to introduce myself and give you a brief background to my journey into the realms of photography. I always enjoyed taking happy snaps and pictures while on holidays but never really realised exactly how much was involved in actually taking an image rather than point and shoot. After coming back from a holiday to the USA I was browsing images on the internet and came across some incredible images taking at night in New York by a photographer named Joergen Geerds. I was so inspired by these images I began researching how he achieved his final results and thus began my passion for photography.
I started with a Fuji point and shoot camera which had manual controls and I used this to cut my teeth learning how to shoot in manual mode. I enrolled with a professional photographer for 4 x 2 hour sessions to gain as much knowledge as I could and then practised and have been practising ever since. Moving forward I realised I would need to progress thus upgrading to a DSLR camera was the next step, so after some research I bought a Canon 550D with twin lens kit. This was my camera which I loved but always dreamed of a Canon 5D Mk3, which became a reality after a car accident destroyed my camera and lenses.
Learning as much as one can, is something I believe all photographers need to do continually, so I enrolled in a Diploma of Photo Imaging course which has opened my eyes to so much more within the world of photography, I completed this course in July 2015. I started as a landscape, nightscape photographer but I have found other genres of photography enjoyable such as portraiture and sports. My website is an avenue for me to hopefully, inspire the viewer, of this incredible world we live in through the images I capture.
