Marty Strecker DOB 1963; Living in Mackay Qld. Outrigger Canoe paddler, fitness junkie, totally obsessed with photography again since May 2016. Traditional oil painting in an artistic back ground, solid timber, furniture and carving.
In his late teens his passion was oil painting, showed his work as well as winning some local prizes and travelled to Sweden with a collection that sold well. He has always leant to a more traditional landscape style in painting, however in the day also enjoyed photography ( of course all film) and was much more experimental. The camera and oils were put aside for many years with a shift in work / business opportunities, life style, family and paddling pursuits.
12 months ago, a revamp of one of their businesses brand required images, which was accomplished by iPhone, as all the cameras at hand had mould, poor function, missing batteries etc. More images were required as social media was also engaged and a more sophisticated camera/s were sort after.
Today:- A hunger for knowledge and experience in the photographic field, experimenting in various genre’s, though starting off in favour with landscape/nature and recently enjoying a documentary/travel story style and very keen on Black and White.
Main Beach at Surfers Paradise 3/7/16 approximately 3pm. I was managing a CQ U13 Rugby boys team that played at the TSS. We had a spare hour to take the squads to the beach, and had been hanging out to get some photo’s other than rugby. So while the boys skylarked in the cool water, I was able to wander up the beach a short way, near the water’s edge and up on the dunes. Naturally I took of my “olukai” pluggers ( since lost at another beach taking photos), and noticed the striking difference in the feel of the sand here than what we are used to at home in Mackay. I had two cameras, the AW130 water proof unit as well as a Nikon D5500. So close to the water, and wanting to get down as low as possible safely on the sand and minimum shadow to get the scale of the skyline, I chose the AW130.
